Summary: Harry wonders what his life has become.

Harry Potter didn’t know exactly when flying around in the middle of the night, perched atop a string mop with an emergency flying charm, and chasing after his five year old son had become the norm of his life.

He watched in terror as the push broom that his wife used to fly on occasion dipped down dangerously, and Harry swore he had a mini-heart attack. He didn’t know exactly why he had agreed to let her charm the push broom in the first place when they could have bought her one of the newer sidesaddle models that they made especially for witches.

“Daddy, look at me!” the dirty blond mop of hair suddenly screamed before jumping off the broom, and Harry made a sound he didn’t know he could before diving after him.

He pushed himself on the string mop, and grabbed his first born by the scruff of his t-shirt. Harry pulled him up next to him on top of the wobbly mop, and frantically checked his sprout wasn’t harmed.

After he was happy with his check, he returned safely to their home, not once letting go of his son who clung to him just as tightly but merrily laughed the entire way back. Harry gently set them down on the soft mushy grass, before letting go of his son who bolted through the front door. He put the mop away in the broom shed and made sure it was locked properly. Harry made a mental note to buy his wife a real broom tomorrow instead of letting her continue with her haphazard experimentations.

Harry walked into the living room to find his son sitting next to his wife, excitedly telling her the story of his midnight ride. She smiled softly and nodded at all the right places of the story. Harry found it endearing but at the same time he wanted to scowl, scream, and tell Luna it was her fault in the first place that their son went joyriding on a contraband broom .

“Harry! Did you hear Jamie’s story?”

“Yes, I did, Luna. I lived it.”

“You rode an illegal broom at the age of five as well?” she asked, incredulity written all over her face.

Harry, who had been glaring at the woman he had madly fallen in love with many years ago, cracked and laughed heartily. She smiled slyly before telling Jamie it was time to go to bed.

After finishing their nightly routine, and closing the door of their sleeping son’s room, Harry dragged his wife to the kitchen for some serious conversation. They had all of their serious conversations in the kitchen, though if Harry were honest, it was practically impossible to fight with Luna.

“You do realize, Luna Love, that we’re getting you a real broom tomorrow morning, right?” Harry asked as soon as they stepped into the brightly colored room.

“I guess so,” she sighed. “We could wake up early and go straight to Quality Quidditch Supplies, but I sort of fancy sleeping in tomorrow morning. Don’t you?”

“Luna, as long as we’ve been married, I haven’t known the luxury of sleeping in, it’s a foreign concept.”

“Well, see I bought this raspberry jam flavored massage oil and I thought that-“

Luna didn’t have a chance to finish her sentence before Harry half-dragged her up the stairs and into their bedroom, slamming the door shut. As he ravaged her, she airily asked if she could use his old Firebolt broomstick instead to which Harry readily agreed without a second thought as soon as the shiny bottle of oil caught his eye.

“Luna Love,” he rhapsodized as he slaughtered her ivory skin with the wonderful smelling oil, “you can ride anything you want.”
